Admissions
Parents committed to Christian education founded NMCS 100 years ago, and parents continue to lead the school today. We offer Christ-centered education for students in Wexford, Missaukee, and Osceola counties and surrounding areas. NMCS is an excellent, progressive pre-K through 12th grade school serving approximately 310 students who represent about 25 different Christian churches. NMCS has a tradition of financial stability and quality facilities, providing the physical and financial framework to complete its mission. NMCS is accredited by Christian Schools International and AdvancED.
The Admissions Process:
To be considered for admission to Northern Michigan Christian School (NMCS), a family must:
-
Submit a completed “Application for Admission” form with $100 application fee. The application must include your student(s) most recent report card.
-
Have a pastor from the church of which you are a member complete the “Pastor’s Recommendation” form and return it to NMCS.
-
Have a friend or acquaintance complete the “Confidential Recommendation from Friends and Acquaintances” form. If possible, the person recommending should be a past or present member of the Northern Michigan Christian School community.
-
Participate in a personal interview with the school’s Superintendent and Finance Director.
-
Schedule a time for a personal student interview for applicants in grades 6-12, Kindergarten readiness screening for Kindergarten students, and academic screening for students in grades 1-12.
Tuition:
NMCS is an independent, Christian school. Tuition provides about 80% of the cost of education. The rest of the need is met through a combination of donations, gifts from our Endowment Fund, and several other sources.
Scholarships:
Families may qualify for a need-based scholarship. At NMCS we are a Christian community. If you desire a Christian Education for your children and believe that the cost is prohibitive for you due to your income, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. If you want to send you children to NMCS, we will help you find a way to do it. For more information, please contact the school office at (231) 825-2492.
